A Pantarei somatic bodywork session at Room to Expand runs about an hour and has two parts that blend into each other: conversation and hands-on work. Here is the whole thing, start to finish, so nothing is a surprise.
Before you arrive
Nothing to prepare. Wear something comfortable. You do not need to know exactly what you want to work on; "I have no idea, I'm just curious" is a legitimate starting point and a fairly common one.
The conversation
We start sitting across from each other, talking. Not an intake form, an actual conversation. What is present for you right now, what keeps repeating, what you would like to be different. My job in this part is to listen well and to be honest with you, not to nod along.
The bodywork
Then you lie down on a bodywork table, fully clothed, and I work with touch while the conversation continues. The touch varies: sometimes still, sometimes moving, sometimes just a hand resting where you happen to hold your entire week. It is not massage and nothing needs to be endured. If anything is uncomfortable, you say so and it changes. You are a participant the whole way through, not a patient.
After
Most people want a few quiet minutes before heading back out. Some things land immediately, some show up two days later in the middle of something unrelated. Both are normal.
Working with a student practitioner
I am a student practitioner of the Pantarei Approach, which means I am completing the professional training at the school here in Berlin, where the method was founded in 2016. Student practitioners give real, full sessions within the school's training framework as part of certification. What that means for you, practically: you receive a complete session, you know exactly where I am in my training, and you are working with someone whose recent training is very fresh and whose attention is very whole.
A note on what I am not: I am not a therapist or a doctor, and sessions do not diagnose or treat any medical or psychological condition. If that is what you need, that care comes first, and this work can exist alongside it.
Practical details
Sessions take place in Neukölln, Berlin, near Schönleinstraße. Sessions are in English. To arrange a session or ask a question first, get in touch. A short exchange before booking is welcome; it is useful for both of us to sense whether this is a fit.
